At Facebook Reality Labs, we aim to bring together the brightest cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of Virtual and Augmented Reality require custom silicon. As an Electrical Engineer, Custom Silicon Specialist on the VR, AR, Portal, or a New Technology Team, you will work cross-functionally with the Facebook Silicon team on new silicon definition, IP Review, bring-up, validation, and lead the effort on new silicon integration to enable the future AR & VR devices where our real and virtual world will mix and match throughout the day.We are looking for a lead engineer to drive technical engagements between Product Team and Silicon Team working on groundbreaking silicon technologies. The ideal candidate would be comfortable leading custom silicon engagement, identifying the need for custom silicon, defining, developing and productizing the next generation of custom silicon solutions!
Responsibilities
- Assisting Silicon Team in Custom Silicon Architecture, Implementation, Design Verification and Silicon Validation.
- Working with EE and Systems teams to establish silicon requirements and critical KPIs.
- Owning critical decisions and trade-offs balancing risk, area, power, performance and schedule.
- Delivering engineering requirement specification documents for custom silicon and targeting to deliver bug free silicons for Mass Production Products.
- Responsible for New Silicon Bring-up and RSI (Ready for System Integration).
- Supporting oversea Contract Manufacturing for Product Bring up and Silicon related FA.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Working independently and managing priorities.
Minimum Qualification
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience with custom silicon architecture and development.
- Experience in evaluating trade-offs such as speed, performance, power, area.
- Experience in employing scientific methods to debug, diagnose and drive the resolution of cross-disciplinary system issues.
- Experience with use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, and function generators.
Preferred Qualification
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with multiple tape-outs reaching production with first pass silicon.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA emulation, New silicon bring-up, characterization, validation and debug.
- Experience dealing with ambiguity in a fast changing consumer electronics field.
- Experience driving and improving digital design methodology to achieve high quality first silicon.
- Experience collaborating and/or leading in a team environment.
- Knowledge of industry trends and disruptive technologies.
- Results oriented, self-motivated, proactive with demonstrated creative & critical thinking.
