Facebook Reality Labs’ work in augmented and virtual reality spans a number of breakthrough technologies and touches industries ranging from entertainment and gaming to healthcare and beyond. Oculus lets people defy distance with cutting-edge VR hardware, while Portal helps friends and families stay connected and share the moments that matter in meaningful ways. Facebook is looking for a Device Communications Manager to join it's Facebook Reality Labs Communications Team. This person will be a member of the team that leads communications for Facebook’s AR, VR and consumer hardware, including Oculus and Portal.

In this role, you will lead the strategic communications for FRL’s hardware supply chain, manufacturing and distribution teams, provide FRL device leadership executive communications as well as lead diversity, equity and inclusion communications for FRL. This individual will work closely with our global communications team on proactive and reactive communications for our global supply chain and manufacturing process (including partners and vendors as well as our Responsible Supply Chain work) and lead diversity, equity and inclusion communications, including community partnerships and building inclusive hardware products. In addition to defining and driving an external communications strategy to elevate the profile of FRL device leadership, in this role, you’ll also support strategic internal communications initiatives, such as All Hands and org-wide Q&As.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with communications experience in hardware (ideally consumer hardware), with a strong eye for detail, a solid writing background and experience collaborating closely with a wide range of executives as well as with third-party partners from different regions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead communications around Facebook Reality Labs devices and product ops, including our hardware supply chain, manufacturing and distribution teams.
  • Put together a communications plan to elevate the profile of FRL device leadership, including strategic internal comms initiatives like All Hands and org-wide Q&As.
  • Lead diversity, equity and inclusion communications for FRL. You’ll partner closely with our DE&I team to amplify strategic initiatives or partnerships as well as owning the external comms strategy for building inclusive products.
  • Draft messaging and press responses, manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues.
  • Interface and consult regularly with cross-functional teams including policy, legal, product, and engineering across Facebook Reality Labs.
  • Accurately identify communications risk for a potential issue given media landscape and surrounding narratives and craft a strategy to mitigate risk.
  • Forge deep relationships with the media and build creative partnerships with public and private organizations.
  • Develop and pitch stories, prepare messaging and blog posts, support launches.
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Political Science, Communications or related field.
  • 7+ years of work experience in product and/or executive communications or related field.
  • A background in communications for hardware products.
Preferred Qualification
  • In-house communications experience.
  • Proven writing experience with attention to detail.
