Come invent the future at Facebook Reality Labs Research. The Display Systems Research (DSR) team is a mix of research scientists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software engineers that build cutting-edge prototypes and push forward the AR/VR technology of the future. Our creative and exploratory work unveils novel challenges in real-time graphics, computational imaging, numerical optimization and machine learning. We welcome PhD students in computer science, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, applied physics, or any related background. Our internships are sixteen (16) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Develop novel algorithms and methods to enable and investigate new VR and AR headset technologies.
- Implement proof-of-concept software and hardware prototypes that redefine the state-of-the-art in virtual and augmented reality.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers from a variety of technical backgrounds through all stages of project development.
- Publish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences.
Minimum Qualification
- Currently in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of computer science, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, applied physics, or related fields.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Experience with computer graphics, including rasterization and ray tracing.
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with a real-time rendering API (e.g. DirectX, OpenGL, or Vulkan), including writing custom shaders.
- Experience with numerical optimization on GPUs (e.g. compute shaders or CUDA) with a focus on performance.
- Experience with Unity or similar real-time engines.
