Immediate opportunity is available in the Portland, Oregon metro area for a talented, motivated simulation associate engineer to design, develop, and test a virtual reality based training simulator.
With an emphasis on product quality, we are developing systems which bring improved value to the flight deck through enhanced situational awareness, lower operating minima, and added safety benefits. From being the Head-Up Display provider for the Boeing Dreamliner to the Helmet Mounted Display provider for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Collins Aerospace continues to build trust every day.
Our simulation engineering team is responsible for operating head up guidance systems installed on a simulated flight deck. Additionally, the simulation engineering team is responsible for creating virtual reality training simulation systems. Simulation engineers initially work under the direction of a lead simulation engineer on one or more development programs. Growth to a lead engineer position is encouraged.
Position will be located in Wilsonville, OR. Relocation assistance is available once we return to the site.
Primary Responsibilities
- Development of VR Applications
- Create and improve VR interaction systems
- Assemble kits for customer deliveries which include hardware and software
- Perform code reviews and identify risks and opportunities
- Software testing, debugging and documentation
- Development of mobile applications for marketing
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior relevant experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
- Familiarity with software version control systems
- Experience with Unity, Unreal, C#, C++, Oculus SDK, OpenXR, Xcode, Blender
- Experience creating products that use 3D modeling or environments
- Good communication skills
- An appetite for creativity
- A customer focused mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with aviation and or aircraft is preferred
- Experience with customer facing meetings and communication
- Experience working in a problem report database is preferred
