We encourage a strong sense of ownership and embrace the ambiguity that comes with working on the frontiers of new technology.We are seeking an Applications and Prototyping Engineering Lead for the connection between our engineering and design efforts for a new product we are developing: the Global Historical Archive (GHA). GHA’s vision is to enable people to defy distance and engage with heritage sites around the world in VR. We’re building our first team of SWE’s and you’ll have the opportunity to lead in connecting our functional development to audience-facing outcomes.As a SWE focused on Applications and Prototyping, you will lead development of features from concept through launch: concept and functional prototyping, feature definition and prioritization, driving features into production, improving performance, and more. Along the way, you’ll work with a global team of builders that care about helping people everywhere to connect with heritage. Your blend of engineering and design skills will be a catalyst on our shared mission to help people defy distance and engage with global heritage.
Responsibilities
- Lead From Concept to Launch: collaborate with teammates to concept features, bring features to life with functional prototypes, and drive the most promising features through various stages of production.
- Develop New Features With Teammates: learn constantly with teammates and collaboratively define, develop, and deploy new features.
- Lead Technology Opportunities: explore and deploy new technologies which convert opportunities into feature sets that positively impact audiences.
- Be A Creative Partner: In addition to being a creative leader in XR design and engineering, our team will welcome you as a contributor or driver in creative efforts (graphic design, trailer production, etc.).
- Learning as a Core Value: educate cross-disciplinary teammates about software best practices, welcome the same from teammates in different disciplines, and contribute to a team wide culture of learning and development.
Minimum Qualification
- 3+ years of experience with creating VR products with Unity (C#).
- 3+ years of experience with the development lifecycle for creative products (simulations, experiences, games, etc.).
- 2+ years experience as part of a team that builds and launches AR/VR consumer technology products.
- 2+ years experience in a role contributing to all levels of product development (prioritizing concepts, implementing feature sets of increasing fidelity, running or participating in playtests, collaborating to resolve bugs, facilitating workflows, etc.) and continued commitment to own such cross-disciplinary work.
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with the Oculus VR technology stack and ideally Quest 2.
- 2+ years experience with 2D and 3D digital content creation (Blender, Maya, Photoshop, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience working within interdisciplinary teams.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
