From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, XR Tech is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences they open up.As a Software Engineer on the XR Runtime team, you will be responsible for expanding the runtime and native SDK that powers all of Facebook’s Virtual Reality devices. You will work on all aspects of the system, from the low-level hardware/drivers, to high level engine integration. You will also work across Facebook’s VR devices, from Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, Oculus Link and unannounced headsets, to add the core software needed to unlock new experiences for our user and developer communities.An ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with a background in cross platform game engine/SDK development and has a passion for bringing technologies together.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and act as the strong owner of new SDK components, features or systems
- Implement significant portions of code, ensuring established standards of quality for documentation and coding
- Work with manager and team members to create and maintain technical specifications, designs and schedules
- Collaborate across the organization to ship software with many dependencies
- Anticipate and resolve issues and problems that arise, suggesting alternative approaches and solutions
Minimum Qualification
- B.S./M.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a similar field
- Experience developing commercial applications
- Proficiency with at least two platforms (Android, Windows, Mac, Linux/Unix)
- 2+ years experience in C/C++, 3D Game Programming or SDK Development
- Experience debugging cross platform issues
- Experience project planning
- Experience problem solving in fast-paced group environments
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with game engine architecture & design
- Experience with 3D math and rendering
- Experience with SSE optimization
- Experience with computer vision or machine learning
- Experience with Unity 3D or Unreal engine development
