Micron is looking for a motivated engineer to join our growing Enterprise SSD Validation Engineering team. The Product Validation Engineering team works as an integral part of our enterprise SSD development and validation process, ensuring our products are timely to market and best-in-class quality in the field. You will partner multi-functionally and cross-site with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Global Labs, and other engineering groups to collaborate in developing strategies to execute validation deliverables.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To

Technical Ownership

  • Execution of test cases that span the technical requirements of enterprise SSDs in development at Micron
  • Manage lab inventory systems and operations
  • Recommend and instrument new validation approaches that drive better coverage, more accurate testing, and expanded testing services
  • Utilize technical, project, and delegation experience to actively lead product test cycles

Test Implementation

  • Define the Test Implementation Strategy and Software Architecture to encompass both development and debug.
  • Define, plan and execute a test automation strategy, to contribute to the ongoing development of in-house automation frameworks/tools.
  • Constantly evaluate, refine and implement validation processes/methodologies

Test Execution

  • Supplying and Pre-formatting of samples for validation
  • Execution of Product Validation flow to match programmed validation plan
  • Monitoring of test time – Test time reduction
  • Results analysis – Bin Pareto
  • Report Generation - Report data in a clear format including concise comments about findings
  • Track document revision to provide historical reference.
  • People leader opportunity - lead execution engineers in gaining experience with the automation and handling SSDs

Lab Leadership

  • Strong technical understanding of lab componentry
  • Manage inventory of lab equipment
  • Maintain lab infrastructure; interface with other engineers to adopt requirements for hardware in test, versioning of driver/software stack, etc.
  • Lead efforts to evolve lab systems to intercept ever-changing enterprise demands
  • People leader opportunity - lead lab technicians and extended workforce to solve core lab projects

Defect Management

  • Root-cause and drive failures coming from upstream/downstream validation teams, customers and other partners to closure, while also articulating the associated risk.
  • Implement systematic clear steps to reproduce failures while providing traceability to the bugs/gaps/escapes.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to assess test results and generate deviation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSEE or equivalent +3 years experience in storage, or 10+ years of experience in a validation discipline, with demonstrated ability to design and implement world-class product test strategies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise SATA & PCIe SSDs, NAND, memory storage hierarchy and enterprise storage.
  • Embedded C and an understanding of an Object-Oriented Programming language; Python preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience with a proven ability to encourage and lead change.
  • Ability to analyze problems, diagnose to root cause, and apply corrective actions
  • Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation and teamwork skills across sites & time zones.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing environment with shifting demands
  • Experience with Agile product development processes and project management
  • Experience with quality and process improvement methodologies and tools (Lean, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, FMEAs, DMAIC)
