Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) focuses on connecting people through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of these products require custom silicon. The Facebook Agile Silicon Team (FAST) is driving the state-of-the-art forward with breakthroughs in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistor, through architecture, to firmware, and algorithms.FAST End-to-end (E2E) system prototyping and validation team seeks an Electrical Engineering (EE) Manager to lead the design and execution of validation boards for FAST AR/VR custom silicon chips. A successful candidate must have multiple years of hands-on experience in hardware boards design/development/validation, the ability to plan projects, manage priorities, and distribute resources across a portfolio of short/mid/long-term projects. The position requires a leader who can motivate team members, guide individual career growth, and cultivate a strong collaborative and supportive team culture.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Electrical Engineers responsible for design/development/validate custom silicon validation boards
- Identify key roles required for team success and recruit top engineering talent
- Provide team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching and mentoring
- Create career development plans, manage performance, manage performance reviews
- Work with cross-functional engineering managers and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver high quality silicon validation board
- Lead EE best engineering practices for your team (e.g. champion of engineering rigor in phase gate development, create specs and KPIs and deliver to these requirements, review and signoff process, etc.)
- Champion a data driven culture, operational excellence, and establishing processes and operational metrics and KPI’s
- Identify and communicate technical risks related to the project to the stakeholders
Minimum Qualification
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering field with 5+ years industry experience, or Bachelor's degree and additional 7+ years industry experience
- Experience leading and driving electrical design development from schematic capture, PCB layout through assembly
- Solid understanding of power and signal integrity fundamentals
- 3+ years experience in leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualification
- Extensive hands-on experience in silicon validation boards development (schematic/CAD/validation/etc., power delivery design, and MIPI/PCIe/USB/DDR high-speed IOs at PCB level)
- Experience in working with external partners & manufacturers in the design, manufacture, testing and delivery of hardware solutions
- Experience with SoC, RF, batteries, sensors integration, Display, custom ASIC/silicon
- Demonstrated cross-functional experience, with experience working with SoC team, Validation team, Product Design engineers, SW architecture, and other hardware/software functions
- Excellent communication skills including experience working in a cross-functional and cross-site team environment are essential
- Experience working in an agile environment, changing roadmaps and experience adapting project plans based on changes
