The Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) team is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. Facebook FRL focuses on delivering Facebook's vision through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The FRL Research team is driving the state-of-the-art forward with breakthrough work in machine learning, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. As a Technical Program Manager for the research team, your focus will be exploring and coordinating the development of new silicon chips with novel IP across the research org. To be successful, you will be eliminating barriers to your team's success, clearly communicating results to all stakeholders and ensuring the big picture stays in focus while delving into the details on specific issues. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to attack unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, and able to use a light touch to find ways to help the team be more efficient.
Responsibilities
- Own program management strategy and execution for multiple novel silicon development programs across research organization.
- Manage silicon roadmap for research and track execution through successful delivery (or successful tech transfer).
- Work with a cross-functional team of silicon, hardware and software engineers and TPMs to set priorities, and identify risks with mitigation plans.
- Work with research and engineering teams on IP development and tech transfer process framework and leverage across Research organization.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the Research org and cross-functional leadership.
- Ensure reuse and leverage of development flows, processes across different functions within research org.
- Effectively communicate program status to key cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
- Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and technology development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment.
- Lead the organization through ambiguity, managing the silicon roadmap while balancing the reality of a rapidly changing and dynamic research environment.
Minimum Qualification
- 10+ years experience in the design and development of new silicon chips and IP in the consumer electronics industry.
- Experience in the design and development of software for silicon systems.
- 5+ years of program management experience.
- Proven great communicator. Versatility in communicating, presenting, and facilitating to all levels of the organization technical and non-technical content.
- Project management, leadership, dependency management, and cross-group collaboration experience across more than one geographic location.
- Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of researchers, software engineers, Silicon and hardware engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualification
- Strong understanding for prototyping and validation with FPGAs and Emulators.
- Experience driving custom silicon programs where no predecessor chip exists.
- Experience tech transferring from a research team to product.
- Managing a multi-generational Si program.
