Job Summary

Vermeer is seeking a Senior Unity3D developer to build desktop and Hololens 2 experiences. The ideal candidate has significant experience with Unity3D and Augmented Reality; however, prior Augmented Reality experience is not required. If no prior AR experience, the candidate will be expected to have keen interest in learning the necessary tools for AR development as part of their role.


The team at Vermeer coalesced around a shared awe of augmented reality in 2017. We aimed to solve real problems with the technology and developed one of the first AR drone applications, used on the film sets of Universal, Paramount, and Warner Bros. Now, Vermeer develops commercial and defense products in augmented reality and artificial intelligence. We are a growing company; as such, candidates must be cross-functional and eager to participate in all aspects of the product life cycle, including user discovery, design, sprint planning, development, unit testing & QA, and deployment.


Compensation: $100-130k/year, 0.05-0.25% equity


Responsibilities

  • Build full stack, multi-user desktop & Hololens 2 applications
  • Collaborate with design team to develop and iterate on user interfaces for desktop & Hololens 2
  • Configure and deploy game server, as well as cloud backend for database and storage
  • Assist in planning and managing development sprints
  • Flexibility with availability and tasks
  • Assimilate changing project requirements based on stakeholder feedback


Requirements

  • Significant experience building games with Unity3D engine
  • Strong command of C# and understanding of OOP concepts
  • Well equipped to build C# networking clients
  • Experience deploying Node.js code with cloud backends, such as Firebase, AWS, or Azure
  • Experience with game servers, e.g. Photon Engine, for real-time multi-user applications
  • Cross-functional experience working with designers to develop prototypes and user interfaces
  • Knowledge of Test Driven Development, including unit and integration tests using Unity TestRunner


Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with AR technologies, primarily Hololens 2 and Microsoft Mixed Reality Toolkit
  • Familiarity with virtual reality development preferred, but not required
  • You have experience working in a startup environment or innovation team
  • You’ve shipped something similar – from beginning to end.


Citizenship Requirement: Candidates must be US citizens, as work will be related to US defense contracts
