Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic cross-functional team.
Responsibilities
- Develop novel concepts complete novel optical system architectures using novel optical components and technologies
- Develop system and subsystem component requirements that are specified to meet the needs of aggressive near eye displays/sensors
- Implement proof-of-concept hardware prototypes that redefine the state-of-the-art in AR/MR
- Perform system level analysis to ensure that the optical, mechanical and electrical designs are capable of meeting system requirements
- Engage cross-functionally with researchers and engineers to explore innovative concepts that advance the entire pipeline (hardware, software, integration, infrastructure and applications), and create compelling future AR/MR experiences
Minimum Qualification
- PhD in Optical Sciences, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related degree or equivalent experience.
- General knowledge of optics including display optics, imaging, illumination, radiometry and colorimetry, physical and geometric optics, and polarization.
- 3+ years of experience in geometrical, physical optics, computational imaging or micro-optics emphasizing modeling and hardware prototyping.
- 3+ years of experience with scientific programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, and Mathematica).
- 3+ years of experience working with optical device design and prototyping, including hands-on prototyping.
- Experience working, communicating, and collaborating in a cross-functional environment with minimal direction.
