MKS Instruments Power Solutions products provides the plasma and control solutions that are a key supplier to the worlds’ largest electronics producers. Plasma control presents many technical challenges that needs innovative thinking and inquisitive engineering minds.


We are looking for an Associate Electronic Engineering in advanced development to support engineering activities such as design, lay out, test, checkout, modification, fabrication, troubleshoot and assembly of developmental and prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment by applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics. Applications may include analog, digital and/or logic systems.


You will work with schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions. You will work under the direction of engineering staff.


What you will do:

  • Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work
  • Performs operational test and failure analysis on systems and equipment
  • Assists in determining root cause and corrective actions to remedy in-house or field defects
  • Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment
  • Uses test and diagnostic equipment including but not limited to such equipment as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters and specialized test apparatus which may require software skills
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronic units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components
  • Maintain logs and notebooks to document testing and operation of equipment
  • Build prototypes from sketches and plans


Your skills:

  • BS degree or equivalent experience and 2+ years’ experience
  • Ability to understand and manage tradeoffs between cost, performance and design effort
  • Ability to multitask
  • Good problem solving and both oral and written communication skills


Preferred skills:

  • Working knowledge of Labview and test automation would be very beneficial
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (i.e. SPICE, Saber, etc.) and/or data analysis tools such as MATLAB also a plus
  • Occasional work hour flexibility to accommodate international conferencing and deadline
