Senior ASIC Controller Test & Reliability Engineer, under the Non-Volatile group of Global Quality, is responsible for setting the strategy, methodology, and direction for quality and reliability for all Micron Controllers. The job requires a motivated individual who works with minimal supervision in a global team environment. Micron is developing next generation memory solutions in which world-class quality controllers are an essential ingredient. The controller QRA engineer can make a direct impact on the quality of these next generation Micron memory products.

In this position, the Controller Quality Reliability Engineer (QRA) will support quality aspects of new controller development. The engineer should be experienced in all aspects of ASIC quality and reliability engineering. The QRA engineer will participate in the product development life cycle and will collaborate with ASIC product development teams across Architecture, Design, Fab process, Foundry management, package, and Test. You will define the Design For Test (DFT) Quality requirements, qualification plans and requirements for internal designs and third-party IP’s.

The successful candidate is expected to have strong analytical skills, tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to work in a team environment. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and senior managers is also a must.

You Will Be Driving The Following

  • Establish use conditions of the product essential for controller qualification planning
  • Work with Foundry teams to ensure test quality is met in design stage and during product development and qualification
  • Ensure the DFx aspects (design for reliability, design for test, design for debugging) are adequately designed into the controller
  • Review the DFT plans, Test quality plans, qualification plan and support its execution across the extended teams
  • Resolve quality and reliability issues by doing risk assessment and creating mitigation plans across product development or high-volume manufacturing
  • Interpret reliability failures in the context of product risk assessment, assessing the failure statistics and providing mitigation plans

Minimum Qualifications

  • Understanding of Design for Test (DFT), Test Quality, Design for Burn In techniques
  • Knowledge of semiconductor FAB manufacturing process, FAB related defects, and failure modes
  • Understanding of ELFR, HTOL, Burn In, ESD and LU testing methodology and failure mechanisms
  • Cross-functional experience and ability to work with Architects, design engineering, Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Packaging, Foundry management, and Failure Analysis teams
  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 7 years of experience or Master’s degree with 3 to 5 years of experience or PhD with 1 to 2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum qualifications, the candidate will have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Experience in Design for Test (DFT), semiconductor reliability and qualification of ASIC products
  • Knowledge of Design for Test (DFT) and Test Quality as implemented in reliability stresses such as ELFR, HTOL, Biased HAST, ESD and Latch-Up
  • Architectural knowledge of various memory bus interfaces
  • Design for Reliability assessment and mitigation methods
  • Soft Error Rate assessment and mitigation techniques
  • Electrical measurement and characterization of semiconductor devices
  • Experience in Packaging, Assembly-related defects, and Package to Die interaction is a plus
  • Experience in VLSI circuit, and analog design
  • Understanding of reliability failure mechanisms and statistics
  • Design of Experiments
  • Experience with statistical software such as JMP
  • Skills in programming or scripting languages such as C,C++, PERL, Python, SQL
