Facebook Reality Labs Research is looking for motivated researchers to help create the next generation of virtual reality. Our research focuses on finding comprehensive solutions to complex tracking problems, delivering novel technologies and algorithms fundamental to future VR systems. You’ll have a unique opportunity to collaborate with industry-leading researchers and engineers who are defining the future of VR and AR.
Our team is looking for candidates with expertise in laser Interferometric system design, signal processing, data-driven algorithm development, and characterization to help with the development of novel sensor architectures within the Eye Tracking Research Team while collaborating with experts across multiple domains.
Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other researchers and engineers at Facebook Technologies to develop signal processing algorithms for eye-tracking optical systems
- Develop algorithms and optimization methods to extract system characteristics that are robust to disturbances
- May work with the team on instrumentation and characterization of optical interferometry devices
- Propose and implement design improvements for movement tracking systems using optical interferometry concepts
Minimum Qualification
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Ph.D. degree in the fields of applied mathematic, signal processing, computational optics, or related fields
- Experience coding in MATLAB and/or Python
- Experience with data acquisition hardware and signal processing chains and sensor signal conditioning
- Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualification
- Familiarity with 3D sensing methods including Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave (FMCW) and Time of Flight (ToF)
- Experience with optical interferometry
- Intent to return to a degree program after the completion of the internship
- Experience with software tools for data-driven motion modeling, such as system identification and/or neural network or related methods
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as SPIE, ETRA, OSA, IEEE, CVPR, ICCV, SIGGRAPH
