The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Software Engineer based out of either Huntsville, Alabama, or Charleston, South Carolina.

As the central research and development organization of The Boeing Company, Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) provides innovative technologies that enable the development of future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of existing Boeing products and services. The successful candidate will be part of the Boeing Research & Technology organization in Huntsville, AL.

The Experienced AR/VR Developer participates in research and development (R&D) of advanced computing technologies, investigates and documents emerging technology trends and products and assists in customer consultations. The AR/VR Developer may also be asked to contribute to whitepaper and proposal development. The development of tools, processes, and program dashboards, which may be augmented using predictive analytics, may also be within the scope of this position.

Position Responsibilities:

• Plans, designs, and produces complex 3D interactive immersive solutions using Unreal Game Engine/Unity
• Writes code and develops assets using appropriate tools and tracking systems and maintains the tracking systems
• Confers with customer to determine effective solutions
• Prototypes, tests, and evaluates solutions
• Acts as scrum master for a small team
• Works under limited supervision
  
  

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.

• 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  
  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
• 3+ years of experience collaborating and working across multi-functional teams
• 1+ years of experience programming in either (e.g. Python, Java, C++, C#)
• Experience developing applications using game technology and creating/modifying 3D models
  
  

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Neuroscience or Psychology
• Experience in User Experience, Human Computer Interaction, or User Experience research and design
• Experience with algorithms for image processing
  
  

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
