Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of professional experience, including 10 years in engineering.
  • Experience leading engineering teams.
  • Experience with technical innovation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience building and evolving teams and experience navigating complex and rapidly shifting competitive environments.
  • Experience in engineering with a demonstrated track record of leading large scale organizations engineers.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate stakeholders to work together as a cohesive and highly productive unit.
  • Ability to lead strategy, while providing detailed technical and strategic guidance to a team.

About The Job

As an Engineering Director for the Perception team, you'll support the AR team, working on both smartphone (ARCore) and future AR products. You'll lead the building of new computer vision and machine learning technologies and algorithms for these products. You'll leverage your expertise in algorithms and industry experience in shipping products. The team possesses a host of experience in motion tracking, 3D reconstruction, object recognition, signal processing, audio and 3D scene understanding, and a long history of product and research impact. As the Director, you'll have a passion for technology and technical depth to design new solutions to today’s complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical vision and strategy for the AR/VR space.
  • Design and lead multi-year technical roadmaps and take full responsibility for planning, overall execution, and success of complex technical projects.
  • Envision the technical needs of our development partners and manage the tools and systems required for these relationships.
  • Inspire teams to innovate, invent, implement, and deploy software solutions, including leading the teams through project pivots and deprecations in a complex environment.
  • Develop and grow talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies for key talent in a highly competitive economic environment.
