Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Interactive Media Web Developer in support of weapon system formal training development. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Training Systems Team (TST).


The Interactive Media Developer will support the Training Services Lead for program design, development, and delivery of training courseware, equipment and simulators. The successful candidate will be a game generalist responsible for technical art and asset development in support of the creation of interactive applications, multimedia training, and innovative content delivery solutions for virtual and augmented reality. Using modern frameworks and UX best practices, the developer will apply user research, information architecture, rapid prototyping, and software development skills to create new solutions, troubleshoot and implement front-end code for existing or new systems, and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions.


Designs and develops multimedia applications, systems and products involving computer graphics and interactive computing such as computer-based systems for personal computers or CD-ROM applications. Incorporates software applications in multiple technology media systems, such as graphics, animation, text, and sound.


What you will get to do:


  • Work within the Agile development framework using industry standard tools including Jira and GitHub.
  • Develop software applications using C#, and create digital content using scripting languages such as Python and MEL.
  • Implement user-centered designs from instructional training lessons to depict scenarios and interactive events for qualification and certification training.
  • Design, create, and implement technical solutions, navigation, interactions, and information layouts for web, desktop, and mobile applications, extended reality, and media ecosystems that span multiple form factors and platforms.
  • Participate in developing the strategy and ongoing maintenance of training platform.
  • Support 3D production pipeline – model, texture, rig, light, animate, and render 3D assets for game-based virtual training needs using a specified game engine such as Unity.
  • Support all phases of the UX process, including research discovery, user-centered design and iterative production.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams that span the social sciences, human-computer interaction, graphic design, information architecture, multimodal design, 3D design and other related disciplines.
  • Consult and interact with colleagues, government customers, and peers to determine strategic alignment of design and technology solutions to advance business priorities.


This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. 


Basic Qualifications:


  • Level 2: BA/BS in Digital Media, Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience designing and developing software solutions.
  • Level 3: BA/BS in Digital Media, Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience designing and developing software solutions,
  • Strong technical expertise to understand technology requirements and translate between business and technology teams.
  • Software development experience with C# and Digital Content Creation languages such as Python or MEL.
  • Strong visual and interaction design proficiency, as well as a comprehension of game design principles.
  • Experience with Unity game engine.
  • Experience in graphic programming and/or shader scripting.
  • Experience with Extended Reality (XR) / Virtual Reality (VR) development.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance must be held and maintained.


Preferred Qualifications:


Unity's Expert Certification is highly desired.

Experience with 2D/3D Game Asset production is preferred.

Experience with virtual and augmented reality hardware including the HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality/HoloLens.

Post-production techniques using non-linear video editing and motion design software including Adobe Premier and After Effects.

Experience in mixing and mastering audio is a plus.

Knowledge of missile defense programs and ICBM systems.

Experience with cross-functional design and development teams.

Experience with User Experience (UX) research, design, and development.

Experience in developing educational & training experiences

Excellent presentation skills

Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: Level 2: $53000 - 79400 / Level 3: $65,700 - $98,500


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
