The Facebook Reality Labs organization's mission is to give people the tools to feel connected anytime, anywhere. We create new, category-defining consumer hardware and software that are immersive, social, and increase the depth of people's connections. The team is a diverse group of problem solvers, inventors, and proven visionaries who are relentless about transforming everyday occurrences into rich experiences that have the potential to improve the way billions of people live. As a part of driving AR/VR into the future Facebook Reality Labs is developing a native Mixed-Reality Operating System (XROS) to better suite the needs AR/VR products.With this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the development of several core - components of the device foundation, which will have a huge impact on Facebook's VR/AR products in the next few years, and the Meta verse we are building up. In addition, the team is expected to grow with additional responsibilities and technology ownership in the broader XROS organization.
Responsibilities
- The team is a fast-pacing cutting-edge OS foundation development team for AR/VR products. The engineering manager is expected to support the team on high-level goals/objectives, as well as on individual goal settings and execution.
- The role will work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees.
- The role is also responsible for supporting team member career growth, helping them identify strength and improvement opportunities, and provide timely and tangible feedback.
Minimum Qualification
- 7+ years experience working on systems software in a large-scale C or C++ code base.
- 3+ years experience managing and growing software engineers.
- Experience building device drivers on mobile embedded systems.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated knowledge of Operating Systems internals on at least one platform.
- Experience with machine learning acceleration hardware.
- Experience with developing for ARM based platforms.
