We are looking for an exceptional Commodity Manager, experienced in Factory Supplies & Services, with a strong desire to learn and grow with an innovative company.  You will provide subject matter expertise in the Facilities category (e.g. industrial gas, packaging, MRO, consumables, safety supplies) and effectively understand market trends.  Parameters that may be examined will include the commodity strategy development process, RFx sourcing, all phases of marketplace analysis, supplier selection, supplier relationship management, consumption management, supplier risk management, negotiation, and contracting.  Additionally, you will identify and develop new suppliers and improve existing supplier performance throughout the world in support of MKS global commodity sourcing strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative international environment navigating multiple technologies, systems, processes, organizations, sites, cultures and practices to develop and or support a robust commodity strategy.


  • Lead Commodity management, create comprehensive sourcing strategies, apply a robust RFx strategic sourcing methodology, and negotiate supplier agreements/contracts for Factory supplies and services aligned to stakeholder’s and MKS Instruments’ goals
  • Solve complex problems important to the success of the organization and draw on experience to successfully negotiate lowest total cost of ownership/best price, OTD, Lead-Times, stakeholder satisfaction, and Quality
  • Create a total cost of ownership models, which includes the entire supply chain from sub-supplier, material, logistics, and other variables
  • Build collaborative relationships with our suppliers, which include a development program and clear lines of communication
  • Assess corporate wide stakeholder requirements from a strategic perspective and Take a leadership role on identifying & implementing opportunities for multi-site and/or cross-departmental sourcing initiatives that consolidate & leverage suppliers and improve reliability, cost, and lead-times


What will you bring to the team, along with your adaptability is:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, and or Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Commodity Management experience working in a diverse supply chain organization with multifunctional, multicultural global teams
  • Experience with negotiations, RFx sourcing processes, contract development and ability to develop/draft complete pro forma contract terms & conditions
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills with executive-level presentation proficiency
  • Ability to develop a comprehensive commodity strategy that takes into consideration company strategy, market trends, best practices, risks, and supplier capabilities & capacity
  • Flexibility to travel within up to 20% of the time, occasionally international
