Facebook is seeking a highly strategic, XR Maps Operations Manager to be the tip of the spear for building and managing business and program operations for XR Maps. At Facebook, we’re building devices and experiences that make people feel closer together. This work is led by Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), which includes Oculus, Portal products, AR and VR software and content, and research and development labs. Our teams are constantly iterating to build a platform to power location-aware experiences to help users be more connected to each other and to the world around them. XR Maps is seeking a Strategy & Operations Manager to manage operations for multiple programs across XR Maps and manage operations for the Data Gathering and tooling program. The XR Maps Data Gathering and Tooling program serves as the foundation enabling our teams and remote technologists to collect the data necessary to scale development of computer vision models, spatial services and AR/VR/XR experiences for high priority products such as Orion and Aria. The XR Maps Operations Manager will lead an internal team consisting of multiple vendors, engineers and technologists to scale and maintain operations and enable our teams to scale seamlessly. The ideal candidate will possess proven project and program management track-record with similar operations experience and strong technical and leadership skills. In your role as Operations Manager within XR Maps you will be a key partner for delivering against three core functions: 1) Core operations (e.g. planning, metrics, and rhythm of the Data Gathering business) 2) Strategic initiatives to improve business efficiency and management (including procurement, budget and vendor performance management) across XR Maps 3) Organizational enablement through analytics, process improvements, interfacing and providing feedback to the tooling and development team on the team’s tooling needs.

Responsibilities
  • Improve operational excellence and create efficiency and simplicity by identifying and removing obstacles for the team. Enables the organization to achieve results by effectively embodying ‘move fast’ values.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in half planning, headcount management, and development of key organizational and operational metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, partners and vendors for the XR Maps Data Gathering.
  • Lead delivery and execution across multiple projects to deliver cross functional requests for data. Provide oversight, mentorship and feedback to catalyze team processes and delivery operations. Catalyze clear and efficient handoffs between development and execution teams.
  • Represent the team through performance management. Provide regular visibility and feedback to multiple vendors and vendor staff members that participate in program operations and centralize operations management of multiple vendor teams and staff involved in the program.
  • Support the long-term operations needs for XR Maps programs, including improvements to scale and streamline operations across related programs.
  • Ability to independently lead and drive transformation initiatives with diverse stakeholders at all levels. Define and maintain operational KPIs, metrics and oversee development of systems to continuously measure performance across operational areas of XRMaps.
  • Partner with TPMs and leadership to develop and manage operations to enable teams to track and deliver on organizational goals and OKRs.
  • Manage and centralize equipment and program procurement and purchasing needs for the XR Maps and Data Gathering team.
  • Formulate and develop strategies and frameworks to support XR Maps team budgeting and vendor management operational needs. Ensure contracts are renewed in a timely manner and are periodically reviewed and audited for consistency and alignment.
  • Drive the operational reviews and rhythm for XR Maps, including leading business analysis of contract performance using cash flows and performance metrics to help prioritize and evaluate contract investments.
  • Independently manage a large scale cross-functional program by developing detailed project plans with activity based milestones.
  • Communicate with leadership on a regular basis, highlighting progress towards goals, key risks and dependencies.
  • Serve as an operations and management lead to ensure gaps in operations are identified, escalated and resolved quickly and efficiently.
Minimum Qualification
  • 4+ years in project or operations management and experience.
  • Experience leading operational execution across highly ambiguous, complex programs, with experience driving execution and operations.
  • Experience working across groups like business development, Finance, Privacy, Communications, and Marketing.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and driving initiatives in a cross-functional environment.
  • Understanding of quantitative skills and basic experience with excel, SQL, and dashboarding tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Unidash with experience delivering financial forecasts and analysis of cashflows.
  • Experienced in using Excel spreadsheets for running data analysis and building quantitative models for business decision making. Experience with pivot table based reporting, using charts for visualization and use of lookup and math functions.
  • Experience managing large teams and delivering consistent operational results across multiple functions.
  • Demonstrated problem solving experience with experience providing business insights and recommendations from datasets.
  • BA/BS Degree in related field.
  • Experience with analytical and negotiation skills.
