Introduction

Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Augmented Reality Software Engineer position. This position is a contract opportunity which is expected to be Remote for a duration of 12 Months or greater.


Summary

The Software Engineer - Virtual Reality, will be responsible for applying practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software fixes, enhancements, components, and/or new software systems and applications of moderate to high complexity. The Developer helps drive design and development of components through his/her own' and partner engineers' work. 


Day To Day

  • Owns the design and development of software fixes, enhancements, components, and/or new software systems and applications
  • Builds and prototypes experiences including augmented reality, virtual reality, projection mapping, game engines, mobile apps, etc.
  • Develops technical solutions that meet specifications and that impact future developments
  • Reviews and writes code
  • Creates protocols, documentation, and tools for marketing experiences
  • Participates in setting the architectural direction for software development projects
  • Interacts and coordinates deliverables with other technical groups in the organization
  • Designs and develops specifications for assigned projects
  • Performs problem analysis and issue resolution
  • Recommends improvements to processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of the team
  • Collaborates with Systems Engineering teams to setup infrastructure and Continuous Integration/Automated Builds as needed

Qualified candidates would have the following:


KEY NEEDS: UNITY EXPERIENCE and MOBILE PLATFORM DEVELOPMENT and EXPERIENCE BUILDING FOR THE WEB


Basic Qualifications        

  • 2+ years of Unity experience
  • 2+ years of mobile app development experience (Preferably Swift, Java, or Kotlin)
  • Solid math background e.g., Linear Algebra, Matrix Multiplication
  • Self-sufficiency to solve problems using resources available e.g., google, YouTube, documentation, Stack Overflow, specialized forums
  • Experience or Familiarity with AWS services: EC2, Containers or Lambdas, S3, IAM, RDS
  • Database design and setup: Postgres, MySQL, or MSSQL
  • Ability to develop and implement high-quality code in a timely manner is essential
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

 

Preferred Qualifications              

  • Familiarity with entertainment industry
  • Experience leading engineering teams (mentoring junior engineers, setting technical direction, etc.).
  • Jira and Confluence experience
  • Agile development
  • Web development experience: Familiarity with React, Node.js
  • API development experience; Familiarity with JSON, OAuth, JWT, and Java - Spring Boot
