Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) Sensors Team is helping build novel products in Augmented and Virtual Reality. Facebook AR/VR research in Computer Vision, Localization, Sensor Fusion, and Machine Learning is driving the state-of-the-art forward through relentless innovation. Our team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future AR/VR products at Facebook. We are looking for candidates with experience in Machine Learning and Signal Processing, to assist with the development of novel software and hardware systems within the FRL Sensors Team, while collaborating with experts across multiple domains.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across Facebook to develop novel concepts and algorithms that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems
- Work with the team to help define, implement, and validate data collection pipelines, and run practical experiments related to Sensor Systems and Machine Learning Algorithms
- Design and implement state-of-the-art Machine Learning Algorithms using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or other platforms
Minimum Qualification
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related fields
- 3+ years’ industry experience working with modern Machine Learning algorithms, specifically Deep Convolutional Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, Clustering, and Dimensionality Reduction
- 3+ years’ experience in building and training machine learning models in Python, using PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Prototyping and engineering experience in at least one relevant specialization area including, Human Activity Recognition (HAR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Time Series Forecasting
- Demonstrated experience in classical Digital Signal Processing techniques, such as Digital Filtering, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Wavelet Transform
- Interpersonal experience with cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Preferred Qualification
- Hands-on experience working with Motion Sensors such as Inertial Sensors, Pressure Sensors, Magnetometers, Ultrasonic Transducers
- Experience with Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO), Sensor Fusion and State Estimation
- Experience in software engineering in C/C++
- Familiarity with the emerging Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications or implementation of substantial Machine Learning algorithms
- High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving skills
