Expected compensation: $46.00 - $49.00 per hour

HireArt is helping the world’s largest social network hire an experienced Technical Specialist, Sound Design to join its Immersive Audio (AR/VR) group.

All candidates should be passionate about high quality product sound and enhancing the user experience through audio.

The ideal candidate should have experience validating sound performance in new hardware initiatives, a background in QA, sound design, or software engineering, and an enthusiasm for innovative audio design.

As a Technical Specialist, You Will
  • Confirm cross-platform voice experiences and test in first party hardware and mobile environments.
  • Develop/maintain audio quality regression test plans, delegate assignments to QA analysts, and participate in testing.
  • Investigate, triage, escalate, and follow up on reported bugs.
  • Establish, document, and maintain technical best practices.
  • Contribute creatively and technically to defining audio design experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with immediate and cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively across multiple technical and design disciplines.
Requirements
  • 4+ years experience in audio implementation, testing, or technical design
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with verifying audio quality on hardware devices, with a proven ear for maintaining high quality
  • Familiarity with QA processes, test plans, and bug tracking
  • Proficiency in digital audio workstations and editing tools (Pro Tools and Izotope RX are preferred)
  • Strong understanding of DSP, audio synthesis, and digital audio concepts/formats
  • Knowledge of both iOS and Android operating systems
  • Comfortable working with command line interfaces
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with tuning audio hardware experiences, using sound tools and/or DSP
  • Scripting or programming experience (e.g. Python, C++, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Familiarity with TTS vocoder technology
Commitment:This is a full-time, 3-month contract position (with the potential for extension) staffed via HireArt and based in Fremont, CA. It will be fully remote until offices reopen and is available to candidates local to the Bay Area.
