Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
- Software development experience in Java and C++.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Experience working with two or more from the following: mobile application development, web application development, web service development, developing large software systems.
- Experience with geometric models and 3D coordinate systems.
- Interest and/or experience with analyzing and working with world-scale data sets.
- Interest and/or experience with computer vision and pose estimation.

The Augmented Reality (AR) Team’s mission is to give people superhuman capabilities by making computing more perceptive, immersive, and accessible. We build the user-facing experiences that give our users these superhuman abilities on phones and next-generation devices.
As a Software Engineer in AR Experiences, you'll build the full-stack AR Navigation experiences for phones and next-generation devices, including the mobile app, data pipelines, serving stack, and testing infrastructure. Working closely with other engineers across AR and Geo and in cross-functional teams (including UX, Product Management, and Program Management), you'll design, prototype, build, and launch new user experiences that help people navigate and explore the world in AR.

We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and launch AR Navigation experiences for phones and next-generation devices.
- Build the scalable data pipelines to provide a geosemantic model of the world that can power real-time AR experiences.
- Enable robust tracking and localization of AR content on phones and devices with real-time computer vision and fusion of sensor signals.
- Work closely with UX and Product Management to define, prototype, and test experiences to discover what experiences users value the most and how to improve the experiences to provide more value to users.
