SAIC is looking for a Senior Systems Engineering Lead to join the Pilot Training Next (PTN) program in JBSA. PTN is a fast-paced development environment delivering virtual reality (VR)-based and adaptive training products to the US Air Force. Our engineers work hand-in-hand with our customer to deliver out-of-the-box training solutions, rapid prototypes and innovative user experiences that have an immediate impact on USAF pilot training. ·      Our Senior Systems Engineering Lead will work alongside the existing Training Lead to design and implement the technical infrastructure for PTN's innovative training environment.

·      The SE Lead will manage a multi-disciplinary team of up to 30 software engineers, information technologists, and data scientists using an Agile methodology within the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).

·      The SE Lead will advise team members on technical tasks and will interface directly with program management and the government customer to manage priorities and scope.

·      Ultimately, the SE Lead will be responsible for the successful integration of multi-disciplinary activities into the USAF's learning environment.

Given the potential breadth of work in the PTN program, SAIC is looking for a lead with strong Systems Engineering and systems integration skills along with significant experience in at least one of the following (and willingness to learn the others!):


·      Database Design and Administration (mySQL, PostgreSQL)

·      Data Science (data manipulation, analysis workflows and data visualizations)

·      Distributed Simulation Interoperability (DIS/HLA)

·      Web Applications Development (Angular JS, Spring)

·      Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Algorithms and Applications


Responsibilities include:

·      Design, document, implement, and manage technical infrastructure to support USAF training, to include System of Systems (SoS) architecture and design, system interfaces, system data flows, and system interoperability

·      Define technical requirements and tasks based on formal and informal customer interaction

·      Plan, manage, and close-out sprints for multiple functional teams working in parallel

·      Lead technical evaluation for subcontractor program reviews

·      Brief senior government leadership on current technical approaches and/or recommended courses of action


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·      Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.

·      This position requires strong communication skills and experience working with geographically distributed teams

·      Management experience 

·      Experience leading cross functional teams 

·      Experience leading geographically dispersed teams 

·      Complex systems integration 

·      Enterprise Solutions Architect 

·      Data Mining, Warehousing

·      Database Management Systems

Clearance Requirement: US citizen with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
