The Environment Understanding team has an opening for a Software Design Engineer. Our team is working on innovative technologies related to SLAM, VIO, computational photography, state estimation, etc. We are looking for someone with solid background and passion in some of those areas that will be accountable for design, implementation, and optimization of components that power current and future Mixed Reality products such as HoloLens. A perfect fit in this environment, requires you to be flexible, self-motivated and a proven collaborator.

Responsibilities
  • Build customer-centric Tracking and Mapping solutions applying Computer Vision, State Estimation and Machine Learning algorithms
  • Partner with engineers, designers and program managers to deliver solid technical designs
  • Work with state-of-the-art sensors and algorithms to design and define the next generation of mixed reality hardware and experiences
  • Execute with accountability towards high quality solutions while meeting schedules
Required

Qualifications
  • Native development skills in C++ design and coding
  • BS/MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working on at least one of 3D computer vision, image processing, or robotics
Preferred
  • Experience writing performance critical code in C/C++, strong debugging skills
  • Hold a MSc/PhD or similar degree in computer vision, machine learning or robotics or have suitable alternate expertise and experience
  • Strong with mathematics or statistics
  • Outstanding technical problem solving
  • Experience with embedded systems, sensing hardware, camera processing pipelines or image quality fundamentals
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Cloud Screen Requirement
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
