Facebook Reality Labs is in charge of our mission to create the foundation for an embodied internet called the Metaverse. To seamlessly share, collaborate, and socialize across every imaginable experience will require a digital identity that can exist in many forms and styles. We will have to invent new ways for users to express themselves, particularly through animation. As an Animation Art Manager within the FRL Avatar Art team, you will help define how people express and represent themselves across all our digital realities, particularly mobile and AR/VR experiences. You will work with a team of passionate animators, tech artists, designers, engineers, and PMs to bring the world together in the Metaverse.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of animators who are chartered with defining the visual targets and the execution of animated Expression Products (e.g. Stickers, Profile Pictures) for the Family of Apps within Facebook
- Recruit and hire talented contributors
- Establish review processes within the team and key stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine mutual vision and goals for in-common product features
- Set team strategy - define objectives and measurable key results, plan the resulting roadmap
- Track asset pipeline, releases and versioning
- Engage with PMs, Designers and Engineering and Art and Tech Art Leads to define animation pipelines and components, scope and goals for key features within our various projects
Minimum Qualification
- 3+ years of art team management experience
- 3+ years of experience in 3D immersive software development as an animato
- Demonstrated experience managing animation pipelines and external teams
- Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing individual contributors and leaders
- Cross-functional communication, presentation experience with a diplomatic style
- Experience with production toolsets and knowledge of 3D Art Tools (e.g. Shotgun, Jira, Trello, Photoshop, Maya, Modo and other)
