Job Description
Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through our family of apps and services, we're building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together. Whether we're creating new products or helping a small business expand its reach, people at Facebook are builders at heart. Our global teams are constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to empower people around the world to build community and connect in meaningful ways. Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.
At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) Fabrication Lead to join our team, whose mission is to design, build, and test prototype systems for future consumer VR and AR experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in semiconductor and TFT fabrication process engineering and process integration who can work with a team of researchers who are developing novel application specific integrated circuits (ASICs). More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Development and maturation of semiconductor process technologies including thin-film deposition, lithography, etching, thermal processing, lamination bonding/de-bonding, and other essential fabrication techniques
- Process integration of core fabrication flows to realize novel ASICs and establishment of Statistical Process Controls (SPCs) to benchmark research and development prototyping line stability and repeatability
- Engage cross-functionally with a diverse team of materials scientists, electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to develop processes that result in new prototype devices and systems
- Translate working knowledge and process capabilities by contributing to development of Process Development Kits (PDKs)
- Collaborate and leverage external laboratories and contract manufacturers to rapidly prototype new devices and systems
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of Material Science, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related area, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years experience with semiconductor fabrication process engineering, process integration, or similar fields
- Experience with conducting Design of Experiments (DoEs), piloting, maturing, and stabilizing a variety of processes
- Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualification
- 2+ years of experience in the domain of Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) fabrication
- Experience in Physical Vapor Deposition, various Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), lithography, substrate bonding/de-bonding, thermal processing, or related technologies
- Experience in ASIC or microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) fabrication and packaging
- Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation tools such as Cadence, Mentor Graphics, or similar GDSII design tools and finite element modeling
