Job Description
Overview
The Manager of Instructional Design is responsible for developing training strategies and content for Asurion’s internal clients through the Instructional Design team. She or he will partner with various stakeholders, including Operations, Change Management, Process Improvement, and others to define success requirements, outline the optimal delivery vehicle for specified training, and develop and deliver on the learning experience and material through a team of professional Instructional Designers. The Instructional Design team will look to this person for thought leadership in the latest training techniques, methodologies, and distribution channels.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead a team of instructional designers, both senior and professional level, to develop and deliver on internal training strategies and content
- Provide frequent feedback and coaching on professional development and instructional design technique
- Partner with Customer Solutions, Client Management, and other teams to build a deep understanding of needs and develop learning strategies and client-specific content that aligns with needs brings strategies to life
- Assess the current state of training content across Asurion’s businesses and drive improvements, creativity and innovation in the way training content is displayed and distributed
- Utilize research on the latest trends and techniques to develop content that resonates with today’s experts
- Assist with developing and executing multimedia training strategies, specifically the expanded use of just-in-time videos, games, and AR/VR
- Assist with the identification and management of new training distribution platforms (as needed)
- Manage multiple learning projects
- Hire and manage freelance labor to assist with projects when appropriate
- Drive the usage of new technologies that help drive engagement and business results
- Some domestic travel may be required
- Manage the creation of a wide array of learning solutions including but not limited to:
- Computer-based trainings
- Instructor-led trainings
- Learning games
- Virtual learning
- Simulations
- VR/AR training
- Mobile applications
- Motion graphics/animations

- Ability to quickly learn and translate company vernacular and technology
- Superior organizational, communication, and project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines, manage heavy workloads and prioritize task

- Knowledge of adult learning theory and delivery methodology
- Experience with Instructional Design authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, and linear video editing tools such as After Effects and Camtasia
- Working knowledge or experience with Learning Management Systems
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 2-5 years’ experience applying instructional design and adult learning methodologies to development and implementation of web-based training and other instructional materials; creative writing and other creative design experience also applicable
- Hands-on experience with mobile or home technology preferred
- Understanding of next-gen technologies related to cloud, mobile, social, or big data
