Our Digital Learning Developer and Technologist will innovate, create, develop, revitalize, and scale AORN’s digital learning portfolio, as we shape digital learning solutions that inspire the next generation of perioperative nursing professionals. They will focus their time on technologies and authoring tools that will be used for rapid development of content. The Digital Learning Developer and Technologist will support the digital learning design (DLD) team by creating and scaling learner-centric and compelling experiences that are consistently aligned with emerging/relevant features. Additionally, this role will take the lead on the LMS management.
AORN is based in Denver, CO and you will be based out of our headquarters in Denver; however, candidates do not have to be located in Denver to apply for this job. We are open to remote work!
More about what you’ll get to do as our Digital Learning Developer and Technologist:
- Produces digital learning experiences rooted in emergent and innovative technologies and UX principles, and as identified below:
- Rapidly and effectively utilizes multimedia and authoring tool(s) to develop content that is interactive, brand/mission-aligned, learner-centric multimodal digital learning solutions and collateral for future launches
- Contribute to team brainstorms, partnering with colleagues to expand on opportunities to elevate our learning portfolio to achieve a higher-level of interaction, including gamification, 3D animations or simulations, immersive scenarios, microlearning, VR/AR, with UX/UI aesthetics
- Swiftly iterate on AORN’s digital learning portfolio of existing learning assets and products to support ongoing revitalization efforts
- Conduct learning needs assessments and analysis to help guide the requirements for project scope, production resources, and scalability
- Evaluate and document any new creative processes or standardization that could arise from your work
- Leads the responsibility of the LMS (Community Brands):
- loads SCORM content using publishing best practices
- participates in ongoing design, modifications, and maintenance of learning plans and packages
- educates team members and other departments on LMS processes
- improves system functionality via requests and documentation
- troubleshoots technical problems & addresses user-reported issues in a timely manner with team, IT, and ES
- Shares in the advancement of the digital learning design team’s mission:
- Engage and collaborate with Learning Experience Designers (LXDs), nurse educators and SMEs, creative services, IT, experience services, and intern(s) to develop world class digital learning.
- continually expands skillset in new learning approaches and emerging technologies through ongoing research and experimentation
- provides thought leadership and contributions to projects, the team, and AORN
- empowers self and others to think outside the box and develop creative learner-centric ideas that are grounded in organizational needs
- embraces a growth mindset and stays up to date not only on what’s current in learning and development, but also the industry and business environment in which you operate
- willing to test new methodologies, break away from status quo, and be a technology advocate
Must Have’s to be our Digital Learning Developer and Technologist:
- Degree in Instructional or Interactive Design, Educational Technology, Multimedia Technology, or related field.
- 4+ years of multimedia digital learning development as a LXD, ID, or eLearning Developer, Learning Technologist, or equivalent
- 2+ years of LMS management, including SCORM and HTML5
- Experience with a multitude of industry-standard applications including platforms and technologies for audio, video, 3D production
- Portfolio of work samples that demonstrates interactive and innovative design, containing original high-fidelity 3D and microlearning animations and simulations, gamification, immersive scenarios, VR/AR, etc.
- Working knowledge of web standards, browser/device performance and best practices
The other qualifications important for our Digital Learning Developer and Technologist to have are:
- Familiarity of modern design tools (Cinema 4D, Blender, Adobe After Effects)
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Aero, Animate, Dimension)
- 3+ years of industry experience in developing interactive 3D experiences with a background in creative technology or interaction design
- Medical or healthcare background/knowledge is a plus
- Microsoft Office 360 (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Flow, Planner).
- Agile, design sprints, and design thinking
- A desire to learn and grow in your design career, and an interest in growth hacking.
- AR/VR experiences, QR codes, podcast production
- UX/UI design principles
- Accurate and technical with an eye for innovation and engagement
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple on-going projects, working within a design team, regularly incorporating feedback, and contributing to a design system.
- Ability to demonstrate and hold others accountable for organizational values of diversity, equity and inclusiveness, innovation, communication, quality and achievement.

- Competitive salary, for this role our salary range is $65,000 - $80,000
