Spectra-Physics, Ophir and Newport are brands within the MKS Instruments Light & Motion division. Location: Remotely-based within NoCA / Bay Area supporting the Northwestern Region


We are looking for an exceptional Sales Territory Manager to join our Spectra-Physics Scientific Sales Team who can…


  • Solve the customer’s problems in the Research and Bio-Imaging markets across the company product lines within a sales region.
  • Drive the overall sales success of the region by ensuring maximum penetration of the Company’s products (primarily lasers) and services to each account. Grow revenue in assigned region through share gain at existing customers and by developing new customers.
  • Travel to accounts and communicate the company's technology, products, services, and brand. Understand customer applications and buying influences. Manage a team-selling process across the MKS product lines to achieve sales plan and stated selling objectives.
  • Execute all sales related activities in the assigned territory including trade shows and customer demos.
  • Work closely with the service and customer support groups by attending select joint customer visits, installations, and meetings with service personnel to insure post-sales customer satisfaction. 
  • Maintain a regional customer contact database, provide sales forecasts, and provide market and competitive updates


What will you bring to the team, along with your intellectual curiosity, is:

  • A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a Physical or Natural Science, or Optics (Highly Desirable)
  • Prior selling experience in Lasers and Optics industry
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including skilled verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment to provide timely and accurate follow-up to inquiries
  • Enthusiastic Self-starter skilled in organizing and prioritizing activities to create exceptional results
