The Virtual Reality (VR) Category Business Manager is responsible for all business and planning for the sales organization for our VR portfolio. They will craft global category business plans, go-to-channel distribution strategies, and channel activation plans for VR product lines. For products that are in-market the Category Business Managers will establish and run a rhythm of business with cross-functional stakeholders and align Objectives and Key Results.
Responsibilities
- Develop channel strategy for launching and sustaining VR products across channels (retail, direct, commercial, carrier) in partnership with Product Management (PM) and Product Marketing Management (PMM) stakeholders
- Drive and deliver go-to-channel timelines and deliverables as part of the product development process. The CBM represents the sales perspective in the product development process
- Partner with channel teams and demand planners to provide early estimate forecasting and revenue for each program and across the portfolio
- Drive alignment on key channel objectives and strategies for the category and products with Product Marketing Management and Channel teams, globally
- Communicate key issues and opportunities to cross-functional teams to influence overall portfolio strategy, pricing, packaging and product decisions in the category
- Maintain a strong knowledge and insight of the category, industry and competitive trends
- Be the distribution expert for key initiatives and respective products in the channel and evangelize key takeaways with the product groups and cross-functional teams
- Provides strategic category & marketing plans and delivers integrated sales pitch decks and new item launch materials for use by the key account managers and Category Performance Managers
- Deliver monthly Category updates to the core sales team inclusive of NPI status, category insights and cross-functional alignment
- Synthesizes and delivers feedback from the field as the perspective of the partner to Product Marketing and Product Management
- Travel requirements: 30%
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in Category Management, Product Management, Product Marketing, Finance and Analytics or some relevant combination
- Experience with channel environment, consumer and business audiences, and overall marketplace dynamics impacting VR
- Confident communication skills with presentation skills and the experience to present to leadership from internal and external organizations
- Advanced skill with either Google Sheets/Slides/Docs or Excel/PowerPoint/Word
Preferred Qualification
- Master’s degree/MBA
- Experience with P&L management of more than $200 million annual business(es), with at least 3 years of direct P&L accountability/management experience
- Experience to adapt and support the organization through times of change
- Experience to precisely and proficiently conduct business and data analyses with data driven recommendations for improvements and advancements
- Experience to build various levels of strong ongoing customer and organizational relationships
- Experience to understand, translate and map strategic business and competitive priorities into analysis and deliver insights
- Experience problem solving, project and program management skills
- Values collaboration and has the experience to communicate across varied stakeholders and influence without authority
- Experience to deal with ambiguity, navigate through uncertain situations and quickly adapt to change
