BigBox VR, makers of POPULATION: ONE, is seeking a Hard Surface/Weapons Artist who can help build the next generation of games for Virtual Reality. This individual has multiple years of experience as a weapon/hard surface artist and loves multiplayer, online live service games.We are looking for a strong communicator who loves the iterative technical and creative process. This person will have the desire to understand a product holistically and can contribute creatively, knowing when to be pragmatic and when to be blue sky. This person will make art trade-offs that align with business objectives while embracing teamwork, as well as solve problems independently.

Responsibilities
  • Create both high-poly and low-poly versions of high-quality weapon models and assets
  • Possess the expertise, experience, and organizational skills to complete weapon models from concept to in game assets with minimal oversight and to mentor team members in similar tasks
  • Ability to take and quickly address feedback as well as provide feedback to others
  • Must work well with other disciplines in a studio environment
Minimum Qualification
  • 5+ years of experience in the game industry
  • Expert in 2D/3D Software packages (Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop)
  • Experience working with a PBR workflow
  • Highly creative and deadline driven
  • Expert in both modern and futuristic hard surface design
  • Experience in creating game ready weapon models
  • Experience mentoring other team members
  • Experience working in a fast-paced AAA Studio production pipeline
  • Experience working on live service titles
  • Self-motivated problem solver with experience working well independently
Preferred Qualification
  • 8+ years of experience in the games industry
  • Shipped at least 2+ AAA titles as a weapon/hard surface artist
  • Experience with Unity
  • Experienced learning new software tools and pipelines
  • Experienced working in game engines
  • Experienced creating assets for mobile and or VR platforms
  • Expert in creating polished models for use in games
  • Expertise in optimizing meshes for games
  • Experienced concepting original weapons/gadgets
  • Online portfolio or demo reel requested - Please include screenshots of your meshes and finished fully textured models
