The Facebook Reality Labs Research Audio Team is looking for an Electrical Engineer to help bring cutting edge virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences and hardware to life through collaboration and commitment. In our Research & Advanced Development projects, we are setting out to fundamentally transform how people interact with sound; bringing these experiences to the daily lives of billions of people. To make this possible, we need a well-rounded team that nurtures kinship, fosters good communication, and is sympathetic to the challenges in these diverse domains.In this role, you will be cooperating with other engineers and researchers to concept, design, build, and test prototype audio hardware. You will be collaborating and contributing at a deeply technical level and guiding efforts of team members who will be supporting you; including external vendors and manufacturing partners. You will design, bring-up, and validate audio power subsystems to achieve efficiency, reliability, and scalability related to piezoelectric transducers, dynamic transducers, and smart amplifiers. You will optimize designs for best acoustics with regards to the size, weight, and power performance needed for the future of AR/VR wearable devices.We are looking for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, exhibits a sense of ownership, and enjoys an honest and considerate environment. Responsibilities
  • Bring-up and validate audio power sub systems
  • Design/Specify operational amplifier (OpAmp) and discrete amplifier (Class D and beyond) design/selection in parallel with transducer designs
  • Simulate, design, and measuring switching amplifiers at the discrete component level
  • Optimize and simulate circuit designs containing voltage and current feedback sensors
Minimum Qualification
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience working with audio or haptic circuit design
  • Experience in failure analysis (both hands-on and analyzing data)
  • Experience with PSpice simulation
  • ECAD experience with schematics and layout of power switching circuits
  • Data visualization and presentation skills
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualification
  • MS in EE, MS in ME or Ph.D. in Acoustics, Physics, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in wearable consumer electronics design
  • Integration and analysis of sensors (IMU, Accelerometers, Mics, etc.)
