Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL Research) brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AR and VR across the spectrum. The Surreal Vision research group at FRL Research is seeking exceptional engineers and technical leads to solve the next generation of research challenges on the path to building future machine perception enabled technologies. We are looking for talented engineers to architect and build Project Aria, our next generation research device, to understand the world from a human's perspective and build next generation AI and AR experiences for AR glasses.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute engineering development of scalable services and systems to enable state-of-the-art research on localization, mapping, and Contextualized AI in AR/VR systems
- Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers and product and program managers across both machine and human perception teams at Facebook to design, architect and implement prototypes
- Work closely with software engineers on the Aria device OS and companion app teams to design and implement solutions for Aria’s backend services
- Prototype multi-user, distributed systems that scale across embedded devices to cloud services
Minimum Qualification
- 5+ years experience with real world system building, including design, coding (C++) and evaluation/testing (C++/Python)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 3+ years experience with data management services, ideally with large scale imagery and video datasets
- Experience with distributed and scalable systems
- Experience in cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Preferred Qualification
- Experience building services for large scale video understanding with modern machine learning
- Basic understanding of 3D computer vision algorithms and Deep Learning Frameworks
- Experience building on spatial databases, large scale spatial maps and GIS
- 2+ years experience working with Elasticsearch, SOLR, or similar search engines and libraries like FAISS
