At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore novel human-computer interfaces for the next generation of virtual and augmented reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Wearable Biomedical Sensors Research Scientist to join our team, whose mission is creating the future of human-computer interface for AR and VR.We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in research, design, and characterization of wearable biomedical components and systems and who can work with a team of researchers who are developing novel human-computer interface technologies for AR/VR applications. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Rapid prototyping of benchtop systems for proof-of-concept experiments of novel biomedical sensors
- Mature biomedical hardware components and systems into wearable form factor and SWAP (size, weight, and power)
- Conduct needs analysis, define system requirements, develop system architectures and models for novel biomedical sensors
- Biosignal processing
- Scope and lead research collaborations with external partners (vendors and academia)
Minimum Qualification
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related area
- 4+ years of experience in biomedical hardware research
- 4+ years of experience modeling, designing, building, and testing wearable biomedical sensors and systems (e.g. electromyography (EMG), galvanic skin response (GSR), photoplethysmography (PPG), blood pressure and non-invasive glucose monitors)
- 4+ years of experience modeling, designing, building, and testing electromyography (EMG) sensors and systems
- 4+ years of experience with signal processing
Preferred Qualification
- Programming skills with Python or C++
- Experience with systems engineering best practices
- Experience leading technical projects, cross-functional teams, and managing vendors
- Experience to a start-up environment or a research environment
- Experience with electrode/optode designs addressing comfort, motion artifact, sweat, skin coupling, etc.
