At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Research Scientist to join our team, whose mission is creating the future of input and interaction for AR and VR. In this role, you will design and conduct analyses on electromyography and other experimental biosensor data to develop state-of-the-art neural interface and brain-computer interface (BCI) applications. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities. Responsibilities
  • Apply state-of-the-art methods for non-invasive physiological signal processing and analysis
  • Collect, analyze, and manage complex multimodal physiological datasets
  • Identify opportunities and employ quantitative research methods to define, iterate upon, and advance key areas of our research agenda around non-invasive physiological sensing systems
Minimum Qualification
  • PhD in biomedical engineering, biophysics, neuroscience, electrical engineering, machine learning, statistics, or related discipline
  • 3+ years experience in biomedical signal processing, machine learning, statistics and analysis
  • Experience designing, debugging, and validating bioinstrumentation systems
  • Experience with linear and non-linear approaches with modern statistical programming languages, e.g. Python, R, Matlab, PyTorch
Preferred Qualification
  • 3+ years experience in biosignal analysis, biosignal processing, neural data analysis, machine learning or related areas for real-time biofeedback applications
  • Demonstrated experience in human physiological measurement, human subjects research, and management of institutional review board documentation
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team spanning novel sensor hardware development through new machine learning solutions
  • Experience with hardware prototype development, e.g. DAQs, microcontrollers
