At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Technical Program Manager to join our team, whose mission is creating the future of input and interaction for AR and VR. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in large-scale program or product management and who can work across a team of researchers, hardware engineers, and materials scientists who are creating novel input technologies. The role requires management of multiple large-scale data collection programs in addition to programs elevating the performance of our research. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with scientists to identify high priority research questions to advance non-invasive neural interface technology.
  • Oversee the design and build of research protocols for highly-controlled experiments with human subjects with the goal of advancing the development of new models and control capabilities.
  • Work with researchers and engineers to develop, implement and maintain robust data collection workflows.
  • Foster innovation and prioritize across specific opportunities to enable development of a best-in-class neural interface.
  • Elevate execution quality of research through high-level strategy planning and tracking of milestone progress with research partners.
  • Work across cross-functional partners (hardware engineering, research science, and software engineering) to identify program scope, constraints, dependencies, risks, and timelines.
  • Proactively identify technical, legal, logistical challenges and develop solutions to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly across internal and external programs, bringing key updates to leadership.
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Neuroscience, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science or related STEM field.
  • 4+ years work experience with product or program management in a technical domain.
  • 2+ years experience with designing quantitative human subjects research or human factors research on broad populations.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualification
  • Familiarity with academic or industry research settings, and/or has led academic human subjects research.
  • Experience with high-volume, high-pace data collection either in industry, government, or academia.
  • Experience with research, development, or testing of novel bio-sensing hardware prototypes, especially electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG) and/or electrocardiography (ECG).
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following domains: bio-sensing, electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG), neuroscience, Human Computer Interactions (HCI), human factors research, wearable technologies.
