Come invent the future. Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL-R) brings together world-class experts to develop next generation systems for virtual, augmented and mixed reality experiences. We are currently seeking a skilled research software engineer with a passion for technology to develop world-leading mixed reality technologies. The focus of this role is on 3D computational photography, and neural scene capture, reconstruction, and rendering. The position requires a combination of education and experience in 3D computer vision, computer graphics, and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Implement highly scalable algorithms based on state-of-the-art machine learning methodologies
- Develop proof-of-concept prototypes for future mixed reality experiences
- Explore new algorithms for neural scene capture, reconstruction, rendering, as well as computational photography
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary research and engineering teams in machine learning, computer vision and computer graphics
- Participate in cutting-edge research that results in industry-leading tech demos and/or publications
Minimum Qualification
- MS or PhD degree in the field of deep learning, computer vision, computer graphics, image processing, or related technical fields
- Demonstrated track record in ML algorithm development for 3D scene capture, reconstruction, and/or 3D computational photography
- Mathematical knowledge in linear algebra, numerical optimization, and probabilistic estimation
- 5+ years C++ experience with modern C++ features
- 3+ years of experience in at least one deep-learning software library (e.g., PyTorch, Caffe2, TensorFlow, or Keras), including: formulation, training, and evaluation of new algorithms and writing reusable modules
- 3+ years of experience developing end-to-end ML pipelines, including: dataset preprocessing, model development and evaluation, and software integration
- 3+ years of experience working in a modern software development environment, including: unit testing, source control, and continuous integration
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualification
- Contributed (as the first author) to publications on machine learning for 3D computer vision or computer graphics, at leading workshops or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, NeurIPS, etc.
- Experience with deploying real-time ML systems in C++
- Broad understanding of the full machine vision pipeline from cameras to high-level algorithms
