At Facebook AR/VR Hardware, we’re developing the future of wearable, portal, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) products. As a Display Electrical Engineer, you will be a member of our Display Hardware Team, taking a lead in display electrical design to set the technical goals, lead the development of leading edge technologies, and working with the current and evolving ecosystem to provide differentiating capabilities to our HW platforms. You will be part of a tight-knit group of highly talented engineers at the forefront of the innovation for FB HW products (AR/VR, portal etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical or touch subsystem related design and activities for display module development, qualification and support integration into the system from the development phase to mass production.
  • Author display electrical subsystem or touch subsystem requirements, specifications and document test criteria for the module and system, review and approve vendor design proposals, document test methodology, component qualification criteria and support system validation and quality control process.
  • Perform subsystem bring up, testing, troubleshooting.
  • Work with the test team to establish characterization and measurement capability.
  • Failure mode analysis, root cause diagnosis, and system-level problem solving across the various project phases.
  • Work with internal cross functional team to establish display module system integration and analysis.
  • Work with supply chain teams in display module and component vendor evaluation and selection.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Minimum Qualification
  • Ph.D. or MS degree plus 3+ years of work experience, or 5+ years working experience with BS degree, in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field or equivalent industry work experience
  • Experience with display or touch electrical interfaces standards and familiar with display or touch subsystem protocols
  • Experience in delivering large volume consumer products
  • Experience in display electrical subsystem or touch subsystem design, testing, and system integration
  • Experience with communication
  • Experience in documentation, and data management
  • Experience with cross functional teamwork
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience with LCD and OLED display technologies and display module/panel/IC design
  • Experience with display electrical subsystem design/testing/implementation
  • Experience with various high-speed serial display electrical interfaces standards including MIPI and eDP protocol design/testing/implementation
  • Experience with EMI and ESD risks and mitigation techniques
  • Experience with mixed signal IC design, fabrication, and validation process
  • Experience with display electrical test system development
  • Experience with scientific programming, signal processing and data analysis
  • Experience with capacitive touch technology including touch module design, measurement techniques, test methodology and system performance metrics optimization
  • Experience with touch sensor/controller technologies and their performance trade-offs
  • Experience with FEA (Comsol, ANSYS, Maxwell) MATLAB, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools
  • Experience with display or touch supply base and close relationship with the vendor ecosystem
  • Experienced in driving cross-functional projects
