At Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team, whose mission is to design, build, and test future consumer VR and AR experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with deep analog design experience who’s also able to explore and advance new technologies. The systems we work with could have ASICs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, WiFi, Bluetooth, and as well as a variety of sensors. The ideal candidate is also comfortable with designing mixed signal systems and RF. They should also be able to work with a team of scientists and tolerate a high degree of ambiguity. The chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Design, simulate, prototype, and test electrical systems in experiments which combine a disparate complement of biometric sensors, mechanics, and software
  • Collaborate in a highly cross-functional team environment across engineering disciplines and research domains
  • Explore and pursue new designs that move the state-of-the-art forward in focused research areas
  • Drive tech roadmaps in collaboration with research scientists
  • Establish and refine product design process, best practices, and/or tools for the organization
Minimum Qualification
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in an Electrical Engineering role
  • 5+ years experience working on electromechanical systems in collaborative, cross functional environments
  • Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence Orcad, Altium or equivalent
  • Experience with one or more biometric sensing technologies such as ultrasound, electrophysiological monitoring, electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyography (EMG), barometric sensors, or pulse oximetry
  • Experience with use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, and function generators
Preferred Qualification
  • 10+ years experience in developing electromechanical systems that integrate new technologies across multiple platforms and form-factors
  • Analog design experience, including advanced circuit simulation skills
  • Experience with one or more of the following: design of high speed differential circuits, Verilog/FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, firmware, or programmable logic based development
  • Familiarity with VR/AR systems and/or wearable technologies
  • Experience working independently and managing priorities
