HTC Creative Labs
HTC Creative Labs is a global team of designers, artists, engineers, and researchers that deliver design strategy, and incubates new products and experiences for the HTC portfolio. This team is responsible for much of HTC’s most significant design work over the past decade. Our current focus is on creating next-generation XR software and hardware experiences for the HTC VIVE brand. Our process relies on the collaboration of exceptionally talented individuals to create products that offer functional benefits and emotional resonance to our target audiences.
About Your Next Opportunity
HTC VIVE is seeking a driven, self-starting Senior Motion Designer who can contribute to Creative Labs’ mission of delivering the XR computing platform of the future. The successful candidate will contribute in bringing an innovative XR vision to life by creating a compelling narrative, stunning video story assets, and quality motion design of HTC’s user experience.
The successful candidate will also work closely with other design, art, and technical disciplines within Creative Labs to deliver the XR computing platform of the future.
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to an evolving design culture and process at the Berkeley studio and throughout HTC's global Creative Labs organization
- Utilize conceptual thinking skills in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary design team to create innovative XR user experiences
- Develop, contribute, and drive a comprehensive Motion Design Standards, Guidelines, Process for Spatial Computing that includes managing design deliverables
- Explore, investigate, kick-off, and evangelize motion design initiatives based on UX/UI needs
- Participate in brainstorms that generate original innovative ideas
- Create inspiring storyboards, illustrate scenarios, and motion style frames that communicate design concepts to team members, cross-functional teams, and executives
- Translate storyboards into animatics, motion comps, and vision videos
- Create high-fidelity UI animations for prototyping to help iterate and evolve design concepts
- Present and evangelize motion design concepts to design & engineering teams
- Deliver and critique production-ready animation templates
- Mentor and inspire visual and UX designers in the motion design field
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, or closely related field
- 5+ years of motion design & video production experience, preferably for interactive UI (VR/AR experience a huge plus)
- Experience shipping multiple products from concept to creation
- Experience contributing to the overall motion design direction for UX projects; working knowledge of full end-to-end user-centered design processes, techniques, and deliverables
- Experience working with and influencing a multi-disciplinary team of visual designers, UX designers, researchers, planners, engineers, business development, product planning, and sales
- Knowledge of formal visual design and composition principles, and a working knowledge of Interaction Design and Information Architecture
- Expert knowledge of motion design principles (timing, anticipation, staging, ease in/out velocity control, secondary motion, etc.); general, cultivated sense of motion.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Ability to self-start and self-manage on projects; proven track record of on-time, high-quality deliverables for projects
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; utilizing Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop are mandatory
- Portfolio demonstrating excellent visual design skills
- Passion for XR technology and visual design discipline
- Are a team player
- Ability to travel quarterly to Taipei, Taiwan to collaborate with product groups
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Abilities)
- Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, or closely related field
- 3D skills a huge plus. (Cinema 4D, Maya, Unity)
