The Boeing Global Services (BGS) Training, Digital and Analytics team is looking for a Lead Architect, Senior Developer / Software Engineer to join our Government Training Services Innovation team, focused on the development of new training solutions. The primary focus of this role will be to lead architecture development and execution of software development best practices. Lead architecture development of immersive technology software capabilities with augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR), primarily leveraging the Unity development environment. These training solutions will support aircrew and maintainers across a wide range of aircraft systems in our portfolio to improve the efficiency and quality of student learning. In addition, senior engineer will have an understanding of cloud services, web development and simulation experiences.

This role will meaningfully contribute to the development of integrated training solutions linking existing and future capabilities into customer facing products. Additionally, you will help map the technologies in our portfolio to our customer’s most pressing capability needs, both domestically and internationally. You’ll also lead customer engagements from a technical standpoint and participate in industry trade shows as a subject matter expert. This is a rapidly evolving domain with potential for high visibility impact across our training, digital and analytics portfolio.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options (St. Louis).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Passionate about developing new capabilities, especially AR/VR/MR, learning analytics, and web-based digital solutions
  • Leads architecture development across our new Government training innovations product portfolio
  • Communicates well with developers on team and key stakeholders to understand design requirements
  • Excels at working in agile software development environment, including extreme and paired programming, with a focus on automated processes
  • Mentors team members on software best practices and periodically reviews or contributes to software development

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Geospatial Science, or other technical degree
  • 10+ years of experience with software design, development, debugging, and performing software integration and test
  • 3+ years of experience working with augmented reality and/or virtual reality technology
  • 5+ years of experience in an agile work environment
  • Experience as a Software Architect and/or Lead Software Developer

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in Unity game engine and Unity Scripting
  • 1+ years of experience in the development and design of aircraft simulation and/or training devices
  • Cloud knowledge
  • Experience on Automation and CI/CD techniques and design patterns

Education/experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
