Job Description

Title: Lab Manager V

Location: Burlingame, California, United States

Duration: 06+ Months( Extend Upto 12 to 24 Months)

Overview

The AR/VR Test Automation Lab Manager is a key role within the AR/VR Infrastructure Engineering team. The core responsibility in this role is to ensure that devices in the lab for automation are working end-to-end. The qualified candidate can expect to work closely with the Infra Eng. team, as well as several XFN partners, to plan, coordinate and execute logistical lab activities.

A healthy, high-capacity AR/VR device lab renders a critical service for the AR/VR org, as HW and SW teams rely heavily on it to execute development and testing activities at a large scale.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Planning: create and maintain a visible, 18-to-24 month lab roadmap, covering all device types and phases, with their expected timelines and quantities, so that logistical and (SW) tool development activities can be derived and coordinated from this plan.
  • Coordinate logistical lab activities: work with procurement, shipping, vendors, device modification teams and other XFN teams, to establish a steady supply chain of devices, hardware, lab space requirements and device installation activities.
  • Establish a device onboarding process: work with existing and future lab users to understand their testing automation requirements and timelines and ensure these are factored into the lab’s environment/plan and that devices comply with lab automation requirements.
  • Define and maintain, with the help of device programs, a detailed device-hosting rack specification that can be outsourced to fulfillment vendors.
  • Maintain lab capacity: work with lab technicians to ensure device remediation and/or corrective actions are scheduled and take place timely, as prioritized by lab users.
  • Work closely with device programs, as well as logistical and technical teams, to ensure test devices get modified and retrofitted prior to their installation in the lab. One such use case is making devices ready for auto remediation. Also ensure that any device program specific configuration requests like pairing devices with phones or controllers are taken care of.
  • Establish a device end-of-life process to ensure an appropriate level of device capacity is maintained throughout each device planned market timeline.
  • Communicate visibly to the AR/VR org: ensure the lab’s roadmap and its corresponding activities, timelines, risks and mitigations are well documented and clearly communicated to the relevant AR/VR constituencies.
  • Input into the Infra Eng. tool development roadmap, to reflect lab monitoring, reporting, automation and remediation requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of program management experience. Preferably technical program management.
  • Proven experience working and coordinating with an extensive network of XFN partners.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present challenges and risks - as well as options for their resolution and mitigation.
  • Experience working with a mobile device leasing lab - preferably in a service provider role - and/or as a consumer of such services.
  • Experience working on electrical assembly and electrical debugging skills
  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
