Eaton’s Aerospace Group is seeking an Industry 4.0 Mechanical Engineer. This position can sit at any of the Eaton U.S. Aerospace facilities.
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for development and application of technology and tools designed to deliver the future state of process automation (Advanced Manufacturing 4.0 and digitization) in Operations across Eaton Aerospace. The ME-i4.0 (Manufacturing Engineer Industry 4.0) will be a key member of the Eaton Aerospace Industry 4.0 deployment team responsible to drive the implementation of the smart factories across Eaton Aerospace Group. The ME-i4.0 will be the technology leader supporting the definition of the technology roadmaps in areas such as automation, digital work instructions, Additive Manufacturing, Augmented Reality, Simulation, OEE, SPC among others. This role will identify, develop, and drive the deployment of technology-based solutions for enabling a digital transformation within our manufacturing operations. This includes equipment connectivity, plant application reporting, analytical skills, and dashboards that accurately represent manufacturing process status and performance.

In this function you will: - Deployment of Eaton Aerospace Group strategy for Industry 4.0, and IIoT – including technologies such as automation, digital work instructions, additive manufacturing, augmented reality, system integration
- Work with senior leaders and site leadership to develop strategies, goals, objectives, and resource planning for the transformation of Eaton Aerospace into a I4.0 manufacturing organization
- Establish the requirements for the Site Level deployment teams, support in the selection of deployments teams.
- Support the site level Deployment Teams with:
- Hands on approach, partnering with local teams in the deployment of i4.0 technology-based solutions
- Training site ME’s on how deploy i4.0 technology-based solutions
- Identifying and/or developing technologies to create smart factories
- Work with site leaders in developing i4.0 business cases
- Lead proof-of-concepts and prototyping projects in i4.0
- Develop partnerships by driven collaboration and integration between multiple partners to deliver comprehensive solutions
- Train deployment sites on I4.0 concepts, tools, and benefits
- Drive rapid innovation by quickly vetting out & experimenting on ideas
- Keep senior leaders and site leadership current with developing technologies
- Ensure solution standardization
- Selection, development, and deployment of Smart Factory/Industry 4.0/IIoT technologies
- Be a change agent promoting and driving the change towards smart factories
- Define and track leading and lagging metrics (KPIs) for i4.0 technologies.
- Lagging metrics could include cost out, cost avoidance, productivity improvements, lead time reduction, quality improvements, safety improvements among others
- Leading metrics could include; pipeline projects in i4.0, number of automation operations, 3D printers etc

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- This position does not offer relocation, but this position is open to any Eaton U.S. Aerospace Facility. The candidate must reside within 50 miles of an Eaton U.S. Aerospace facility.
Preferred:
- 3 years of experience in manufacturing
- Minimum 1 year of experience in industrial automation, internet of things, data acquisition, machine learning, big data analytics, additive manufacturing, digitalization, and/or augmented reality
- Comprehensive knowledge of Industry 4.0/Smart factories. This includes IoT, Data Acquisition, Machine Learning, and Big Data Analytics, additive manufacturing, digitalization, augmented reality to name few
- Effective leadership of cross functional & multi-location teams
- Demonstrated Project Management skillsets
- Highly effective communication skills– both verbal and written with ability to make necessary status reports
- Strong organizational and planning skills

- Travel may be required up to 50% of the time
