Expected compensation: $50.00 - $57.00 per hour

HireArt is helping the world's largest social network find an AR/VR Game Designer to join its cutting edge, experienced development team in crafting worlds with true engagement and total immersion. As a level designer, you will work directly with the game directors and team leads to create AAA-level interactive, AR/VR worlds with captivating narrative experiences. Engineers filling this AR/VR Gamer Designer position will heavily emphasize gameplay flow and framing to fully leverage virtual reality.

The ideal candidate will have experience in VR gaming or building games in VR and clear level design skills with a focus on conveying a clear level map and flow and a focus on player experience and player flow. All candidates must have good knowledge of UE4 scripting and blueprints and level layout experience.

As An AR/VR Game Designer, You Will
  • Design, own, and champion engaging single-player levels in a highly iterative environment
  • Block-out and script entire levels
  • Work alongside designers, artists, and engineers to create engaging level experiences
  • Own the creation of level design from paper to scripting to final gameplay
  • Develop, experiment, and prototype level puzzles and mechanics
  • Manage all aspects of level design including paper maps, block-outs, and iterative feedback cycles
  • Help set, prioritize, and communicate levels goals and needs to team members
  • Thoroughly understand hardware limitations and common techniques
  • Foster positive team culture while accepting feedback and iteration from peers
Requirements
  • 3+ years of industry experience working on different platforms
  • Shipped 3+ AAA titles on high-end platforms
  • Working knowledge of scripting and UE4 blueprint
  • Experience building levels in UE4
  • Ability to manage level layouts from paper to completion
  • Hardcore gamer who understands the framing and flow of good level design
  • Strong sense of space, metrics, and architectural building needs
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt easily to change
  • Ability to interact effectively
  • Experience building games in VR is a huge plus
Commitment: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), 12-month contract position through HireArt. This position will begin remotely and be based in the PST zone. However, candidates must be local to or willing to relocate to one of the following areas: Austin, TX; the Bay Area, CA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Seattle, WA.
