Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the Senior Engineer with day-to-day activities of the lab including but not limited to: scheduling print jobs, supervising printing, cleaning and maintaining 3D printers, uploading images to an online database, data entry, operating 3D scanners, and segmenting simple anatomical models. Also assists the Senior Engineer integrate 3D printing technology with new imaging technologies including Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality to speed the 3D printing workflow.

Job Specific Duties
  • Schedules print jobs, supervises printing, cleans and maintains 3D printers, uploads images to an online database, enters data, operates 3D scanners, and segments simple anatomical models.
  • Operates augmented reality systems.
  • Assists the Senior Engineer in integrating 3D printing technology with new imaging technologies including Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality to speed the 3D printing workflow.
  • Assists in carrying out research protocols including writing emails, and meeting with physicians and families.
  • Follows all NCHS policies and procedures in the conduct of human subject research as directed by investigators and the Research Operations Manager.
  • Works with Physicians and colleagues to produce patient-specific 3D models.
  • Initiates the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, abstracts, and reports (including data analysis) for funding sources and publication.
  • Assists with all research projects involving corporate and academic colleagues.
  • Utilizes engineering training and expertise to implement and provide feedback on procedures for 3D printing and imaging.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related
  • 1 -2 years hands on experience in current state of the art 3D printing technology
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects 3D printing applications


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Bachelors in Engineering preferred
  • Stratasys J750 expertise preferred
  • Demonstrated skill with 3D printing or imaging technology
  • Basic knowledge of CT and MRI physics, and image artifacts
  • Human anatomy and medical terminology exposure
  • Basic knowledge of computer issues and trouble shooting skills
  • Experience running a 3D printing lab
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in written communication
