Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) is building computing devices for the future. This includes Oculus and Portal products, AR and VR software and hardware, voice assistant technology, and research and development labs. Facebook is seeking a talented product attorney to partner with the FRL Privacy team as it grows its virtual reality and augmented reality business. This role is product-focused and will involve close coordination with central privacy, product legal, and other cross-functional partners to advise on a broad range of privacy and data protection issues globally to support Facebook Reality Labs’ suite of devices, apps, and R&D efforts. We are looking for a candidate who has a solid understanding of laws and principles as they apply to privacy-focused products, is motivated, collaborates well and is able to practically weigh and manage risks around privacy. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate closely with privacy teams, product teams, and the Privacy Legal team to identify and provide frontline product advice and ensure privacy compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and subject matters experts across the Facebook business (such as compliance, policy, and communications) to analyze and communicate legal risks and deliver advice globally
  • Train on privacy matters, compliance obligations, and building trust with clients and end users
  • Build positive and influential relationships with executives, product teams, and peers across the FRL organization in Facebook
Minimum Qualification
  • J.D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 5+ years practicing attorney experience
  • Knowledge of relevant privacy laws including CCPA and/or GDPR/ePD
Preferred Qualification
  • Law firm and in-house experience with technology companies
  • Experience in Privacy Program Management, Data Protection & Digital Information Governance
  • Experience building privacy programs and products
