Responsibilities

Universal Pictures Marketing is seeking a VP of Digital Marketing to run a dedicated team in the execution of theatrical film campaigns. This person must be a “digital native” with a deep understanding of the digital creative process including the development of strategy, digital creative elements and assets, social creative and community management, online platforms and apps, emerging technology, AR/VR executions, influencers, digital media, and digital publicity. They also need to have a proven track record of innovation in the digital space and an ability to think big and “out of the box” to break through, drive awareness and earned media for our films, while solving complex challenges.

This person must have experience managing a team, able to navigate different personalities, skillsets, and understand when to delegate and when to take the reins, always motiving their team to generate best-in-class work.

In addition, this person must have experience and confidence presenting at the highest level and be comfortable and adept at communicating clearly with multiple departments, filmmakers, talent and studio executives and with all levels of colleagues.

Most importantly, this person must have a genuine passion for film and an innate understanding of storytelling.

This position reports to the SVP of Digital Marketing, with oversight from the department EVP and Co-President of Marketing.

Specific Responsibilities Include
  • Develop digital campaign strategy and execute throughout the multiple stages of a film’s lifecycle: from long lead to in-production, to the campaign launch and then building to opening and ultimately closing tactics, as well as post open campaign management.
  • Oversee all campaign specific digital tactics, activations, asset development such as social content, custom integrations with film talent, AR, websites, banner ads, and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong familiarity with the RFP process, and the selection of and management of agency partners to execute our campaigns.
  • Liaise with other areas within the marketing department (creative advertising, media, publicity, research, multicultural, data, research, partnerships) to ensure that digital extensions are fully integrated into campaigns.
  • Oversee all campaign specific digital publicity: influencer activations, digital outlets, and communicating to talent online opportunities to secure their participation.
  • Work closely with international and home entertainment counterparts to coordinate digital strategy for each release.
  • Create innovative, first-to-market programs with platforms that maximize ROI and earned media potential.
Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in a marketing position
  • 5+ years of experience in digital marketing
