Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL-R) brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of augmented and virtual reality. Our team within FRL-R is focused on advancing optical and display technologies to help make AR/VR ubiquitous.
In this unique role, you will lead a small team of software engineers while making hands-on contributions to our scientific explorations. Together, we are going to build cutting-edge prototypes and create technology that can define a paradigm shift in how we interact with our surroundings. Responsibilities
- Build, nurture and lead a healthy team by providing guidance, mentorship and support to software engineers.
- Clean readable code, debug complex problems that span systems, understand priorities and fulfill project needs efficiently.
- Learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving.
- Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver software solutions.
- Perform architectural, design and code reviews that improve software engineering quality.
- Create career development plans and manage performance of a talented team of software engineers.
- Provide technical leadership for innovative, reliable, scalable and maintainable software solutions.
Minimum Qualification
- BS degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing software engineers.
- Proven track record of professional software development, including shipping one or more products on large code bases that span platforms and tools.
- Demonstrated proficiency in C++, algorithm design, low level computer architecture, software design, and analyzing computational complexity.
- Demonstrated proficiency in 3D math.
- Proven track record of working across disciplines to drive solutions through effective communication and building consensus.
Preferred Qualification
- 10+ years of experience creating software for realtime environments such as video games, embedded systems, or robotics.
- Experience working in graphics, computer vision, or robotics.
- Experience working in AR/VR.
